Goal Setting for 2024 Instead of a New Years Resolution

As the New Year starts, many of us start thinking about News Year Resolutions; however in setting resolutions are we just setting ourselves up for failure? Why don’t we think about setting a goal instead? In particular a ‘SMART’ Goal ( Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely.) When we set a ‘SMART’ goal we have given it real thought and it’s much more likely that we will achieve our goal, in fact it is likely that we might have to set ourselves smaller goals first before we get to our bigger goal.

At Bristol After Stroke we might be able to help you to achieve some of your goals

  • We have 8 newly trained Stroke Affected Peer Mentors to support other stroke affected people to set goals and provide encouragement in moving towards them. Our Peer Mentors will help to reduce feelings of isolation, and help support with stroke recovery. To find out more about how you could be supported in this way contact the Bristol After Stroke office on [email protected] or call 0117 9647657.

Want to get fit

We are piloting a Walking Netball Group for Stroke Affected People – starting 15th of January on Monday mornings at Kingswood Leisure Centre; to find out more or to sign up contact the office.

If Netball isn’t for you – how about Walking Football for Stroke Affected people , this group has been running for a few years now and welcomes everyone, no experience necessary.

Best of luck to everyone who is setting new goals for 2024! If we can help you to achieve them we will!
